The benefits of massage are endless,
We all enjoy touch, remember the magic kiss your Mother would give you to make the pain go away?
This magic is real to some extent as the adrenaline flooding a childs body when scared, can be reduced by a calming touch.
Touch helps produce oxytocin, a natural pain reliever.
It has been shown that the levels of andrenaline( naturally occuring during the final stages of birth )
can still be found in special care babies up to two weeks after the birth where touch has been difficult.
Imagine being filled with adrenaline in the first two weeks of life and the lasting effects.
The techniques taught last a lifetime and can be used on babies, children and adults.
Build a routine now and have a tool to communicate with teenagers, its surprising what they tell you when relaxed and defences are down.
It is also a good way to teach your children about appropriate touch and their right to say no!
I offer massage instruction as part of the Doula package but also run courses for six or more
and am happy to help with babies/children with special needs, prem. birth or illness .
I teach the carer to massage, I do not touch the child / baby myself as massage is key to bonding.
